Fume cupboards and hoods

Fume cupboards and fume hoods (Custom made)

Protect employees from exposure to materials and gases hazardous to their health with Kojair Fume Cupboards and hoods.

Kojair fume cupboards and hoods are designed for laboratory use in industry, hospitals, schools, etc. They protect employees from exposure to materials and gases hazardous to their health. The fume cupboards are attached to their own exhaust ventilation ducts with mechanical air extraction.

Constructie en materialen

Kojair fume cupboards are made of stainless (AISI 304), acid-proof (AISI 316) or stove-enamelled steel. The surface is corrosive-proof and easy to keep clean. The front sliding door is made of laminated glass. The sliding door comes equipped with a counterweight that holds it in the desired position. Thanks to the counterweight and the bearing-mounted wire heels, the door opens and closes smoothly and easily. The standard basin surface is made of stainless steel. The taps in the working chamber are protected with acid-proof epoxy paint. The open support frame is a steel-profile construction of the same material as the cupboard. The cupboard comes in two basic varieties: model VK has an upright front wall, while model VKV has a slanted front window.

Operating principle

The fume cupboard is attached to its own exhaust ventilation duct. The exhaust suction creates an underpressure inside the cupboard. The air flows into the working chamber with almost no turbulence and reaches he exhaust vent through three grills on different levels. The replacement air flows into the cupboard from the entire area of the work opening, preventing hazardous materials or gases from getting out of the working chamber into the room air. The fume cupboard effectively protects the user even at low air-extraction rates.

Equipment and installation

By default, Kojair fume cupboards are equipped with LED lighting, a stainless steel basin and work surface, an open steel support frame with adjustable legs, an electrical distribution board with two rounded outlets, and lighting and ventilation control switches. All switches and outlets required in the operation of the cupboard are located on the front panel at the edge of the work surface.

The fume cupboard is ready to be connected to water, drain, gas and electrical systems and the exhaust ventilation duct. The electrical connection and the exhaust duct socket are located on the top; the water and gas connections are at he back of the cupboard. The necessary connections must be performed by a qualified contractor.

Dimensions and connections

  • Recommended exhaust volume for a 1,000-mm-wide cupboard is
    200–400 m3/h

  • Designed pressure drop for the nominal air volume is 40 Pa

  • Vertical space required by the cupboard with the sliding door in the fully open position is 2,450 mm

Biosafety cabinet Class III

Kojair Biowizard 3

The BioWizard 3 is a Class III safety cabinet which protects the operator and the environment from hazards in handling infected and other dangerous biological material. The cabinet separates the operator from the potentially infected samples handled in the working space. Work is performed with mechanically attached gloves. Escape of any airborne particles is prevented by an exhaust system.

Construction

The cabinet interior is constructed of stainless steel. Other parts stove enameled steel.

Window

The front window can be opened for ease of access to the working area when it is safe to do so.

Finishing

All internal finishes are solvent, disinfectant and abrasion resistant.

Filters

The main filters are leak-tested, high efficiency H14 HEPA-filters which meet the requirements of EN 12469. The inlet filter is to the same specification as the exhaust filter. These filters generate the correct airflow, ensuring a minimum working pressure of 200 Pa.

Material pass-through

Materials required for normal work are placed inside the cabinet via a material pass-through made of stainless steel. A rotating tray in the bottom of the pass-through makes this easy.

Gloves

The gloves have a beaded cuff conforming to the diameter and shape of the glove ports. Different glove materials available, neoprene being as standard. Gloves can easily be replaced from outside the cabinet, the old gloves being pushed inside and the new ones fitted while the fan is still running.

The Biowizard BW-3 cabinet fulfils the requirements of standard EN 12469.

Platinum DEF

At Kojair we take safety very seriously. It has always been our first, second and third priority. A good example is the new Kojair class II laminar flow bench  Platinum DEF. It is in our DNA that we strive for perfection. Therefore we keep innovating and improving our laminar flow benches. We provide a large variety of class II laminar flow benches and our range of innovations are unequalled.

A good example is the unique integrated second HEPA H14 exhaust filter. The “DEF” in the Kojair class II laminar flow bench Platinum DEF stands for ‘double exhaust filter. Which means that the Kojair Platinum DEF includes two HEPA H14 exhaust filters. Air that is exhausted outside will be double-filtered over a HEPA H14 filter. The days of having an additional filter box on top of the cabinet which gave extra height to the cabinet are over. This additional HEPA H14 filter is smoothly integrated inside the cabinet which gives many benefits!

The Kojair Platinum DEF is designed to guarantee a work environment that complies with the latest requirements, best ergonomics and highest possible level of safety. Distractions resulting from poor working conditions or materials are unwelcome. Kojair applies the latest technologies, modern design and SMART innovations which result in a unique, high-quality product, the Kojair Platinum DEF.

Key advantages of the Kojair class II laminar flow bench Platinum DEF – Be SMART, have it all:

Biosafety cabinet Class I

Kojair KC-1

Kojair KC-1 is a class I safety cabinet which protects the user and the environment from hazards in handling infected and other dangerous biological material. This safety cabinet has an opening through which the operator can manipulate the objects it contains, air being continuously expelled to prevent the escape of airborne contamination generated inside.

Construction

The cabinet interior is constructed of stainless steel.

Window

The front window is made of laminated 6 mm thick glass, and can be sealed for fumigation and opened for ease of access to the work space.

Finishing

All internal finishes are solvent, disinfectant and abrasion resistant, and the base flat and rigid, preventing it from flexing which might create dangerous conditions inside the cabinet.

Lighting

The illumination of the work surface is 1,000 lux.

Filters

The main filter is a leak-tested, high efficiency HEPA-filter which meets the requirements of standard H14, i.e. an efficiency of at least 99.995% for particles with an average diameter measured according to MPPS. The filter is mounted in such a way that no air can by-pass the filter medium.

Exhaust Syetem

The cabinet is constructed to expel air into the atmosphere using an individual fan mounted downstream of the filter. The fan is virtually silent and voltage regulated. The cabinet is fitted with an automatic anti-flowback system downstream of the filters to prevent air flowing back inside, particularly when the fan is switched off.

Air velocity

The cabinet is designed to ensure that the air velocity at all points of the working aperture remains within the specified limits, a minimum of 0.7 m/s.

Noise Level

The noise level is approximately 53 dB(A).

KC-1 fulfills the requirements of standard EN-12469.
